Welcome to St Monica’s Nursery and Forest School
We pride ourselves on being a home away from home where children aged 2-4 settle in quickly and start their early years' journey feeling safe and secure. Our highly qualified, caring staff ensure that all our children get the best possible start, building solid friendships from day one. We encourage and support children to be independent in their learning and development and allow them to lead by following their interests. This is achieved through a carefully planned combination of themes and topics and ‘in the moment planning’ allowing children to follow their interests. At the same time, staff observe and extend to stretch and challenge the child’s thinking. We also follow a maths and phonics scheme to ensure our children are school ready by the time they come to leave us to start school.
Our children have full access to our indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day. They have plenty of time to choose where they want to play and what they want to play with!
Our enabling environment, combined with a large variety of resourses including loose parts/open-ended resources allows children to develop creativity and critical thinking skills during play and exploration.
Our vision is...
To provide a safe and supportive environment that allows children to play, learn and develop to reach their full potential. Working in partnership with parents to provide an all-around holistic support system for our children and enabling them to build the knowledge and skills they need to be resilient enough to fulfil their dreams and live as confident, successful and caring individuals.
Term Dates
Our term dates are the same as those of St Monica's school, with no insets except for September. Click here for Term Dates.
Uniform
At St Monica’s Nursery, the uniform is optional.
We ask that children attend Nursery in suitable clothing, consisting of closed-toe shoes such as trainers (sandals and Crocs are inappropriate). Leggings or jogging bottoms are preferable over skirts, dresses and shorts to allow for better movement during activities. A top ideal for the weather, hoodies to be provided on colder days and waterproof jackets through the winter months.
If you would like to purchase a uniform, then you can follow the below link, which will take you to our portal with Touchline:
