Science
At St. Monica’s, the Mission Statement is ‘Loving to learn; Learning to love like Jesus’. We aim to enable all children to reach their full potential through a love of learning. We believe that through the activities we offer children, they can develop a love and passion for Science. Our Mission Statement further commits us to encourage the children to appreciate the wonder of creation and in order for children to do so they need to have a knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live. At St Monica’s we aim to cultivate a sense of curiosity, interest and excitement about the natural world, alongside the knowledge, understanding and skills to explore it further. Our Science teaching compliments our Forest School sessions, which every year group enjoys across the school year. Children are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes. The children are taught practical scientific methods, processes and skills through each topic. We offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities linking to Science learning, including trips to museums and farms, and visitors such as doctors, engineers and scientists. |
