Parent voice

From day one our families become part of our nursery family. We quickly build strong relationships with all involved with our children to make sure we are all working on the same page providing the very best for our little ones.

We really appreciate the feedback from our parents/carers throughout the year. We use it to help us reflect on our nursery provision, staffing, ethos and curriculum. Over the years we have been blown away by the kind words from our families, staff feel humbled and appreciated for all the hard work they do.

I cannot express enough how grateful we are to have found St. Monica's Preschool for our daughter, India. From the moment she started, it was clear that this preschool goes above and beyond in every way imaginable. The staff are truly exceptional, showing such warmth, care, and dedication to India's individual growth and development. It's not just a place to send your child—it's a place where they are nurtured, encouraged, and inspired.

One of the things we love about St. Monica's is the immense effort the staff put into planning activities. They always ensure that each day is engaging and enriching for the children. The activities are thoughtfully designed to promote not only creativity but also critical thinking skills. India is constantly coming home with stories about the fun, hands-on learning she experienced that day, whether it’s arts and crafts, imaginative play, or adventures in forest school!

A particular aspect we’ve noticed is the strong emphasis on phonics. The approach to teaching early literacy is outstanding. I can see that the staff use a variety of interactive and fun methods, such as songs, games, and also child focused attention, to help the children build a solid foundation in phonics. It’s evident that they genuinely care about making sure every child understands the sounds and letters in a way that is playful and age appropriate. India is delighted when she spots a letter she knows out in the community and can make the sound confidently. She has made such incredible progress in her reading skills already, and I attribute so much of that to the consistent, thoughtful phonics teaching she receives at St. Monica’s.

The level of care, professionalism, and enthusiasm the staff show is unmatched. They are always available for questions, keep parents in the loop with regular updates, and truly go the extra mile to create a positive, welcoming environment for both children and families. It's clear to us that St. Monica's is more than just a preschool—it’s a community. We feel so lucky that India has had the privilege of attending this incredible preschool. Every day she leaves with a big smile, having learned something new and exciting. I wholeheartedly recommend St. Monica's to any parent looking for a warm, enriching, and academically stimulating environment for their little one. Rachael March 2025

My child has been attending the nursery for over 2 years now. Every day when I collect him he is happy and has enjoyed his day. I really like teh setting that it is intergrated within the primary school and how the nursery is mixed aged range. (I think children learn skills form the older children and learn how to be helpful with the younger ones). Annoymous March 2025

Connie started at St Monica's nursery a couple of weeks after she turned 2. I was slightly Apprehensive to send her to a nursery as she had never been away  from familyfor prolonged periods of time. The teachers were very reassuring and during her settling in session they buil great relationships with her and assigned her a Key Worker. They also kept me up to date during her frist few sessions to let me know how she was doing. Courtney March 2025
